Looking back, some of the names will be remembered by many,
while some are overlooked or forgotten. Some of the names from the past
from Gold River to Victoria
Alex Riley, Art Smith, Bill Selfridge, Bill Walker, Bill Cox,
Brian Sacho, Brian Zelley, Charles John, Chris Jones, Dan Wright,
Don Orr, Fred Fielding, George Nepper, George Shiels, Harry Castle,
Harry Morris, Harry Pollitt, Jack Snaith, Jason Heit, Jerry Golden,
Jim Hills, Jim Howie, Clark MacLellan, Ian Weir, Joe Preston Les Varro,.
Lou Bujdoso, Lloyd Anderson, Mike Caird, Mike Sartori, Monty Brown,
Nick Lystar, Niel Garda, Paul DeLuca, Rene Nepper, Frick Brough
Roger Nepper, Sammy May, Skimp Williams, Steve Barnes and Taylor Gordon.
LOU BUJDOSO was an important figure that would be involved
with the revival of the Diamond Belt tournament in 1980.Lloyd Anderson
and Jack Snaith would help with setting up the Comox Valley Boxing Club.
Both had fought at the Nanaimo Boxing Club.
Joe Preston and Clark MacLellan are two unsung coaches of the Nanaimo Boxing Club.
Both would also serve as ring officials.Skimp Williams was an aggressive fighter but as a
trainer and cornerman, he was one of the best. Mike Sartori would be one of the original
members of the 1994 Commonwealth Games boxing committee.Dan Wright
was one of two co-founder of the Nanaimo Boxing Club in 1971,
